Cadence for Mac
New in 0.3.42: History. Every dictation on this Mac is listed with the app it went to and the time, and you can search by words, app or window title. It stays on this Mac until you delete it, and you can turn it off in Settings → Privacy. Dictating into terminals is more reliable, and the Claude Code sessions section is gone.
New in 0.3.41: Cadence Agent has been removed. Dictation, Refine, Styles, Chat, Ask Cadence, Annotate and Translate work as before, and your settings, sign-in and chats are kept. Gmail, Outlook and custom connector sign-ins are deleted from your Mac when this version starts.
New in 0.3.40: Cleanup & formatting. Dictate a list and it comes out as a list; dictate an email and it comes out with its greeting, paragraphs and sign-off, and long messages are split into paragraphs. On a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on (macOS 26), Cadence can clean up dictation on your Mac, so it’s faster and the text isn’t sent; long dictations, styles and anything it can’t do well still use Cadence’s writing service. Chat also opens out of the floating controls at every screen edge, instead of in a separate window.
New in 0.3.39: Annotate sees what you circle. Circle a photo, chart, diagram, handwriting or a screenshot as well as text, and Cadence answers about it, always with Swift. The circled area is sent as a picture together with the words read from it on your Mac; nothing else on your screen is sent. Before, a picture without words was refused with “couldn’t find any text”. Annotate also opens on the desktop you’re using instead of switching to another one, and the Claude Code section shows Claude’s official logo.
New in 0.3.37: Ask Cadence. Hold ⌃⌥A in any app, ask out loud and let go. Cadence Chat answers in the notch without taking you out of your app, and knows which app you’re in and any text you selected there. A reply can hand you a draft to paste back into that app, and nothing happens until you click. Annotate stays on ⌃⌥C.
Also new: the Cadence window’s sidebar shows your Claude Code sessions as Working, Needs you or Idle. Names from your Dictionary come out right more often, Cadence Chat lets you choose Swift or Advanced (Pro), and Annotate and Translate open on the desktop you’re working on.
Includes dictation on your Mac. Cadence transcribes what you say with NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3 right on your Mac, so your recording is never uploaded and dictation is faster. The first time, Cadence downloads Parakeet (about 630 MB) in the background; it understands English and 24 other European languages. Also new: search 108 languages in Translate, see how many times faster than typing you are on Home, update in one click from the Update available window at launch, and get the same notch panel from the floating controls at every screen edge. Also new: Styles. Make a style for each group of people you write to, such as Friends, Partner or Family, and paste a few messages you’ve sent them. Choose a style from the notch, the menu bar or the new Styles page, and what you dictate is written the way you write to them. Annotate and Translate now keep your normal pointer. Chat, Annotate and Translate share a weekly allowance (dictation and Refine don’t count toward it). Also new: Annotate. Circle anything on your screen and ask Cadence about it. Press ⌃⌥C, draw around a question, a paragraph or an error message, then type or say what you want to know, and Cadence Chat answers. Annotate reads the circled words on your Mac, and since 0.3.39 the circled area itself is sent as a picture with them and your question; it needs Screen Recording permission the first time. Also new: Translate. Press ⌃⌥T, circle the text, and read it in your language in a card out of the notch, ready to copy. Chat now opens out of the notch, a new welcome guide includes a microphone test, and the app has a quieter graphite look. Dictation waits instead of failing when Cadence is busy, and Try again sends your recording without speaking again. Home shows the time you’ve saved more simply: how much time speaking saved, then two bars comparing how fast you write with Cadence and how fast you type. Also new: when Cadence can’t put your text into the app you’re using, it copies it for you straight away, so you can press ⌘V to paste it wherever you want. You no longer need to press Copy. Also new: change your dictation shortcut right where you see it. Click the shortcut in the Cadence window’s sidebar, then press the new one. The dictation pop-up stays small while you speak; your text appears in your app when you stop. Fixed: Cadence no longer quits when you start dictating with AirPods. Dictation now goes where your cursor is, even when you switch apps while Cadence is transcribing or the app redraws its text box, instead of stopping with “Couldn’t insert: the destination changed”. It also works in apps that don’t describe their text fields to macOS. Includes faster dictation with on-device “um”/“uh” cleanup, dictation that goes where your cursor is (also in the Claude desktop app), chat with Cadence (drop PDFs, documents, code or screenshots in to talk about them), files in Refine, lower and warmer interface sounds, Cadence in the notch, Refine in the notch, your weekly dictation allowance on Home, Get support in the app, floating controls, live dictation and the daily dashboard graph.

The signed installer, normal installation, Google sign-in, remembered sessions, audio capture component and live speech/writing service have passed checks. Full desktop dictation and editor-replacement tests, email-code first-login, and independent first-time-user trials remain incomplete. Test a short sample before using Cadence for important work.
Cadence for Windows
Windows 10 (build 19041) or later · x64 · Version 1.2.48
New in 1.2.48: History. Every dictation on this PC is listed with the app it went to and the time, and you can search by words, app or window title. It stays on this PC until you delete it, and you can turn it off in Settings. Dictating into terminals is more reliable, dictation and Refine now work in Tauri and other WebView2 apps, and the Claude Code sessions section is gone.
In 1.2.46: Cadence Agent has been removed. Dictation, Refine, Styles, Chat, Ask Cadence, Annotate and Translate work as before, and your settings, sign-in and chats are kept. Gmail, Outlook and custom connector sign-ins are deleted from your PC when this version starts.
New in 1.2.45: Cleanup & formatting. Dictate a list and it comes out as a list; dictate an email and it comes out with its greeting, paragraphs and sign-off. At Light, English dictation can now be cleaned up on your PC with S1-mini by Superwhisper (a one-time 406 MB download), so it’s faster and the text isn’t sent; anything it can’t do well still uses Cadence’s writing service. Chat also opens out of the floating controls at every screen edge, instead of in a separate window.
New in 1.2.44: Annotate sees what you circle. Circle a photo, chart, diagram or screenshot as well as text, and Cadence answers about it, always with Swift. The circled area is sent as a picture together with the words read from it on your PC; nothing else on your screen is sent. Before, a picture without words was refused with “couldn’t find any text”.
New in 1.2.43: Ask Cadence. Hold Ctrl + Alt + K in any app, ask out loud and let go. Cadence Chat answers in the notch without taking you out of your app, and knows which app you’re in and any text you selected there. A reply can hand you a draft to paste back into that app, and nothing happens until you click.
Also new: the Cadence window’s sidebar shows your Claude Code sessions as Working, Needs you or Idle. Names from your Dictionary come out right more often, and Cadence Chat lets you choose Swift or Advanced (Pro).
Includes dictation on your PC. Cadence transcribes what you say with NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3 right on your PC, so your recording is never uploaded and dictation is faster. The first time, Cadence downloads Parakeet (about 670 MB) in the background; it understands English and 24 other European languages. Also new: the same controls wherever you put them. With the floating controls at the bottom, left, top or right of the screen, hovering the glass tab now opens the same panel as the notch, with the same controls. Also new: search 108 languages in Translate, see how many times faster than typing you are on Home, and from now on update in one click from the Update available window at launch. The dictation bubbles move on quiet microphones too. Also new: Styles. Make a style for each group you write to, such as friends, your partner, family or work, and paste in a few messages you’ve sent them. While a style is in use, what you dictate is rewritten in that voice: the same tone, length, punctuation, emoji and slang, with everything you said kept. Switch styles in one click from the notch, the tray menu or the new Styles page in the Cadence window. Annotate and Translate keep your normal mouse pointer, and since 1.2.33 they work again; in 1.2.29 they stopped with “Cadence couldn’t capture your screen”. Chat, Annotate and Translate now share a weekly allowance: 20 requests on Free and 1,000 on Pro (fair use), resetting Mondays at 00:00 UTC. Dictation, dictation cleanup and Refine don’t count toward it, and Settings → Account shows how many you’ve used. Also new: circle anything on your screen and ask Cadence. Press Ctrl+Alt+C, draw a loop around a question, paragraph or error message, then type or say what you want to know, and Cadence Chat answers. Windows reads the circled words on your PC, and since 1.2.44 the circled area itself is sent as a picture with them and your question. Also new: Translate. Press Ctrl+Alt+T, circle the text, and read it in your language in a card out of the notch. Chat now opens out of the notch, a new welcome guide includes a microphone test, and the app has a quieter graphite look. Dictation waits instead of failing when Cadence is busy, and Try again sends the same words without recording again. Also new: when Cadence can’t put your text into the app you’re using, it copies it for you straight away, so you can press Ctrl+V to paste it wherever you want. You no longer need to press Copy. Also new: change your dictation shortcut right where you see it. Click the shortcut in the Cadence window’s sidebar, then press the new one: a key combination, a lone Ctrl, Alt or Shift, or Mouse 4 or Mouse 5. The dictation pop-up stays small while you speak. It no longer grows to show your words as you say them; your text appears in your app when you stop. Existing installs move Cadence into the notch once. Settings → Account shows which account you’re signed in with, and signing in ends back in Cadence without a “Cadence for Mac wants to access Cadence” page. Setup now waits until you’ve signed in, because dictation and writing need your Cadence account, including on the free plan. Includes dictation that goes where your cursor is, dictation with a picture on your clipboard, the stuck-key shortcut fix, Cadence in the notch by default, faster dictation with on-device “um”/“uh” cleanup, chat with Cadence, mouse side-button shortcuts, files in Refine, Alt shortcut dictation that keeps your place, Google Docs dictation in Chrome and Edge, your weekly dictation allowance on Home, floating quick controls and the daily dashboard graph. Sign in with your Cadence account; no personal API key is needed.
